We are seeking an experienced Chief Architect to shape and align architecture across Infront’s diverse products, teams, and technology landscape. Reporting to the CTO, this is a hands-on, non-managerial role focused on partnering with Tech Leads to connect systems, champion standards, and elevate performance and reliability, while respecting team autonomy. You will define the architectural approach, establish lightweight governance from the ground up, and drive rapid, tangible impact by influencing without authority and turning complexity into clarity.
Responsibilities
- Champion high architectural standards across the organisation
- Map system dependencies and maintain clear, up-to-date architectural documentation
- Improve system reliability, resilience, and fault tolerance
- Optimise service start-up and recovery times, including from cold starts and backups
- Drive performance improvements through measurement, monitoring, and code profiling
- Enhance system scalability and overall service performance
- Lead phased migration and consolidation initiatives across APIs and products, using patterns such as adapters and proxies
- Ensure technology investments align with business objectives
- Analyse and document business processes, including using BPMN where appropriate
- Balance architectural consistency with team autonomy, enabling fast and effective innovation
- Ensure non-functional requirements are defined and embedded in the development lifecycle
- Drive platform modernisation and reduction of technical debt where needed
- Recommend appropriate technology choices for specific use cases
- Facilitate the evaluation and adoption of new technologies
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science
- At least 8 years of experience in technology
- At least 3 years of experience as a Technical Architect
- Proven track record of successful cloud migration or replatforming initiatives
- Strong cloud expertise, including at least two of AWS, Azure, or GCP
- Deep knowledge of both SQL and NoSQL databases
- Strong data modelling and schema design skills
- Solid understanding of query optimisation and index design
- Experience with caching strategies and search technologies
- Expert knowledge of API design principles
- Experience designing distributed and event-driven systems
- Ability to evaluate architectural trade-offs and make decisions aligned with business needs
- Strong ability to simplify complex systems and concepts
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Demonstrated leadership and ability to influence without direct authority
- Strong stakeholder management skills
- Fluent in written and spoken English
